There are rumours that ABA Bank in Cambodia is looking for a loan. It seems their managements liberal policies towards lending may have caught up with them. Unlike some banks in Asia they kept on increasing their loan amounts as the management pursued ever larger profits, that all slammed into a brick wall when Covid arrived. Now they are discovering how bad some of those loans were.
I am also being informed that some who could not able to get a loan, due to being a poor risk, found an easier route by having an overdraft or two extended instead. Has anyone else heard anything?
I think the 2020 annual report will make for very interesting reading.
